The Full Review
The Halal Shack opened in the GSU and immediately became one of the most popular spots on campus. For Muslim students who've been navigating limited halal options, this is HUGE - fully halal-certified food right in the center of campus.
The menu is inspired by NYC halal street carts - think chicken or lamb over rice with white sauce and hot sauce. The quality is solid, the portions are generous, and you can use dining points.
BU Dining actually did taste tests with Islamic Society of BU students before launching, so the flavors are authentic and on point. The falafel is a great vegetarian/vegan option too.
This place gets BUSY at lunch. The line can stretch, but it moves quickly. If you can hit it at off-peak times (before 11:30am or after 2pm), you'll have a much better experience.
The white sauce is the key - don't skip it. And if you can handle heat, the hot sauce is legit spicy.
For Muslim students especially: this is the most convenient halal option you'll find. No more trekking to Allston for halal food between classes.
